Chapter Fourteen

He’d thought about waking her before he left, but in the end, he didn’t. She was sleeping hard, and he wanted those circles under her eyes to be less deep.

Plus, he didn’t think he could leave her while she was awake.

He’d done a lot of things that didn’t thrill him. Swum in freezing cold waters. Carried heavy gear in ball-melting heat. Performed ops in the shittiest conditions imaginable.

Abby had picked on him when he grumbled about setting up the session with Tiger, but yeah, that had made the suck list, too. He wouldn’t tell her she’d been right, about him and Tiger having a beer together.

That aside, she had zero appreciation for the effort it took, him setting up a sexual encounter for her with another man. When his feelings for a woman began to run this deep, it activated the exclusivity clause for him.

But he’d never expected to fall for a Domme. There were lines he could cross, but he had no switch side at all. Play was play, and they’d both proven they could deal with that, but this wasn’t a woman who wanted to occasionally tie up her man with scarves in the privacy of their bedroom. For it to work for her, it had to be real and true.

Neil’s possessive feeling hadn’t gone away as she’d put her hands on Tiger. Once or twice he’d even indulged a leisurely fantasy of how many ways he could inflict lasting, crippling pain on Tiger’s long, muscled body. But she’d been in her element. Lawrence had been right. Watching her draw a submissive male’s arousal to heights any man would crave, all by feeding his soul-deep desire to serve and pleasure his Mistress, really had been a work of fucking art. A big neon sign that this was a vital part of her life, who she was.

The hard truth? Helping her reclaim that, watching what that meant to her unfold, surpassed his desire to call her his and his alone.

Caring about someone meant adapting.

The dreaded meeting hadn’t been that bad. He’d set it up at a bar they both knew. Tiger had been waiting for him when he arrived, in a booth with a clear shot at the entrance. Ros had initiated the meeting as Neil had requested, her involvement ensuring Tiger would at least hear Neil out. However, from Tiger’s wooden expression as he approached, Neil hadn’t been surprised by the acrimonious tone of his first words, when Neil slid into the booth across from him.

“I respect the hell out of Ros, but I’m telling you this straight. I don’t like this. If that feeling gets worse once you start talking, I’m out of here. And anything we talk about, I’ll be telling Abby. I won’t lie or hide things from her.”

The man was as decent as Ros had told him he was. It helped Neil contain his entirely petty resentment that Tiger looked like every woman’s bad boy biker fantasy.

“I plan to tell her myself,” Neil said.
